Upper Arm Lift 101
- Posted on: Aug 15 2023
Loose skin is a natural part of life. It can occur from aging, sun damage, changes from pregnancy, and significant weight loss. Loose skin in large amounts can be uncomfortable and make wearing certain clothing uncomfortable.
While loose skin can occur on various parts of the body, it is common on the upper arm. Thankfully, an arm lift can remove loose skin and tone and shape the upper arm to suit your desired look.
What Is an Upper Arm Lift?
Upper arm lift surgery is the surgical removal of loose skin from the upper arms to achieve a cosmetic goal or to alleviate discomfort from excessive loose skin. This process is often paired with liposuction for a combined benefit.
Liposuction is often performed on the upper arms to remove excess fat. However, this can cause loose skin to remain after fat removal. That’s why upper arm lift surgery is often paired with liposuction for better results and a more dramatic transformation.
What to Expect From Upper Arm Lift Surgery
The arm lift process will begin with an in-depth consultation with your surgeon. Your surgeon will discuss with you your body goals, how the procedure will be performed, what recovery will look like, and all the timelines associated with the procedure.
First, general or intravenous anesthesia will be used to provide comfort during the procedure. Then, an incision will generally be placed on the arm’s inside to access the loose skin. Now, with access to the arm, your surgeon will alter and tighten the underlying structures depending on your aesthetic goals. Finally, the incision will be sutured and closed. Then, the recovery process will begin.
