Hand Surgery

Within minutes my right hand began to swell from my wrist to the tips of my fingers. The physician Assistant working on the floor came to evaluate and said she never saw this before. She pressed down on my hand which at the time was hard and discolored. I was given ice packs to reduce the swelling. Several hours past I awoke with terrible pain in my right hand and fingers were not able to move or bend and were brownish in color. Finally after approximately 4 hours PA phoned the cardiologists, hand surgeon, and plastic surgeon. Four doctors came to my room and no one had a clue as what to do. It was then a little after 4:00am that Dr. Sasson arrived he had been awoken at home and immediately came to the hospital. He arrived with gauze, scalpel, dressing, etc. He took one look at my right hand and explained there was no time to move me to the operating room and the procedure had to be done immediately at the bedside or else I would lose my right hand. He quickly explained risks and began the procedure…If it wasn’t for Dr. Sasson I would not have my right hand today. Dr. Sasson is caring and professional. His priority in his patients always comes first and foremost I am still under his care for this procedure and I can never thank him enough for saving my hand.
